Oxford University Press (China) Supports Ronald McDonald House Charities’ ‘Read for Love’ Reading Program, Caring for Society through Educational Outreach
Last year, Oxford University Press (China) Limited (OUPC) donated 3,000 children's readers to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC Hong Kong), supporting their annual fundraising event - the ‘Read for Love’ Reading Program. The program aims to cultivate good reading habits among students and encourage the younger generation to care about people who are sick and their families.
OUPC attended RMHC Hong Kong’s Raffle Kick-off Ceremony and the award presentation for the reading program on 13 July 2024. We witnessed the success of the fundraising campaign and received an award in recognition of our active promotion of education and support for people in need. Over 2,400 students from kindergartens and primary schools across Hong Kong participated in the four-to-eight-week reading program, raising substantial funds for sick children.
Ms Nancy Yip, the Managing Director of Oxford University Press (China), shared: 'With roots in Hong Kong for over 60 years, OUPC is committed to publishing high-quality books and resources to promote a reading culture. We operate in a manner which is ethical and socially responsible. We firmly believe that while spreading knowledge and promoting learning, we should also connect with the community and build a better society through books.'
OUPC has consistently supported educational community projects, including material donations and encouraging employees to engage in ongoing volunteer service. Our goal is to provide quality education to readers in need and promote learning.
Looking ahead, we plan to support more local social service organizations, discover projects that promote quality education, and foster a culture of compassion and inclusion.
