Oxford University Press (China) Achieves Environmental Sustainability Target for 2025

Oxford University Press (China) Limited (OUPC) is proud to announce that it has successfully achieved the environmental sustainability target set by Oxford University Press (The Press) in 2021. From 1 January 2025 onwards, all paper used in our printed publications now comes from certified sustainable sources, specifically FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified paper.

This milestone marks a significant step in our commitment to reducing our impact on the climate and nature. By ensuring that all our paper is sourced from responsibly managed forests, we are contributing to the preservation of biodiversity, the reduction of deforestation, and the promotion of ethical forestry practices. We find ways to make our own operations more efficient, and by engaging our suppliers on the environmental impacts of our publishing supply chain.

"We are thrilled to have reached this important goal," said Ms Nancy Yip, the Managing Director of Oxford University Press (China). "Our transition to FSC certified paper underscores our dedication to sustainability and our ongoing efforts to minimize our environmental footprint. We believe that every step towards sustainability counts, and this achievement is a testament to the hard work and commitment of our entire team."

Oxford University Press reaches teachers, learners, and researchers across the globe. The Press’s mission is to further the University of Oxford’s objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide. In a world that is facing the growing impacts of climate change, geopolitical upheaval, and shifting social tides, we have a deep-rooted responsibility to the communities we serve. The journey towards this target began in 2021, with a clear objective to ensure that all paper used in our publications would be from certified sustainable sources from 2025. Completing the transition to FSC certified paper, which started on January 1, 2025, is a key part of our broader sustainability strategy, which includes reducing carbon emission from different sources, increasing recycling and supporting sustainable supply chains.

OUPC remains committed to continuous improvement in our environmental practices and will continue to seek innovative ways to enhance our sustainability efforts. We thank our partners, customers, and employees for their support in helping us achieve this significant milestone.
